Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo’s Garden Initiative Wins Japan’s Good Design Award 2025

To preserve the invaluable cultural heritage of Japanese gardens for future generations, we have been actively engaged in initiatives based on three principles: Cultural Promotion and Regional Collaboration, Human Resource Development, and Research. These efforts have been recognized with the prestigious Good Design Award for 2025.
About the Good Design Award
Established in 1957, the Good Design Award is Japan’s leading program for evaluating and promoting design. It is a globally recognized award that attracts participation from numerous companies and organizations both domestically and internationally. The award aims to enhance the quality of life and address societal challenges by leveraging the power of design.
Awarded Initiative: The Garden Culture Revitalization and Promotion Model of Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo

                                 Cultural Promotion and Regional Collaboration-Continuous implementation of garden productions that highlight the value of Japanese culture and gardens. -Collaborative projects and exhibitions with nearby cultural institutions. -Establishing agreements that leverage the unique characteristics of the garden to promote cultural initiatives tied to local resources. In 2024, we signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with Odawara City in Kanagawa Prefecture.

                                 Mutual Understanding and Human Resource Development-Promoting the training of young gardeners. -Sharing the intent behind research and projects with service staff to enhance guest guidance. -Developing guides and in-house exhibitions to enable guests to actively share the cultural significance of the gardens.

                                 Research-Conducting flora and fauna surveys by experts to implement garden management that contributes to urban environmental improvement. -Collecting and organizing historical materials within the facility to study the intrinsic value of the gardens. -Receiving the Japan Institute of Landscape Architecture Award for initiatives related to the “Reiwa Twelve Views.”
